3 month update

Time for another monthly update

How old? 3 months

Our weights: Don't know exactly but I would guess H. 11, N. 10, G. 9.5
We will have a weight check at their 4 month in October. But all are consistently growing!
We have retired the newborn clothes collection, and getting out the 6 month soon (especially for Henry)

Our sleeping patterns? morning naps from around 9:30-11, then afternoon naps from 1:30-4
bedtime is at 7:30, and they are sleeping good 5 hour stretches at night. Every now and again one will sleep through the night, but it is not too consistent yet. (Graham did sleep 10 hours the other night, and Nolan did it a few nights before then. Henry just loves to eat a lot, so he has a middle of the night feeding still)

Our eating schedule? Bottles around 6am, 8am, 11, 1, 4:30, and 7pm. everyone is eating right around 3.5 oz. Henry is a fast eater.... Nolan needs to be burped a lot so he doesn't puke everywhere (reflux), and Graham started this new habit where if you stop to burp him he will not take the bottle after... so you have to almost feed him the whole bottle before you burp him.

Our favorite foods? Neo sure 22 calorie formula.

Our likes? Being outside, being held (esp. by mama), rocking in the glider, the activity mat, smiling at people, the swing and mamaroo, car rides, baths-depending on our mood.

Our dislikes? Baths-depending on our mood, the hours between 4-7pm (witching hour), gas bubbles, tummy time-depending on our mood, sleeping in cribs.

Our favorite games/toys? the TV, activity mat, anything that rattles, playing patty-cake, singing in the glider with mommy.

Our milestones? Recognizing voices, smiling a lot at people, holding heads and body up, finding our hands.

Things we do to make Mom and Dad smile? Sneezes, coo's, smiles, Henry falling asleep anywhere, anytime, Nolan laughing in his sleep, Graham talking a lot!

A special trip for Henry

This last Thursday the pediatrician had scheduled an ultrasound and X-ray for Henry. We noticed that Henry has a butt crack that splits at the top so it kind of Y's at the top. The pediatrician didn't seem too concerned about it but wanted to make sure.
So Henry and I headed down to children's on Thursday. We got to radiology and waited for them to call us back to a room. When we got to the ultrasound room, there were cute little twinkle lights in the ceiling... I know if Henry was old enough he would have loved them.... But this mama sure did appreciate little touches like that.
It was weird that Henry was the one on the table getting covered in that ultrasound gel instead of me, he looked so tiny on the table... But pretty much slept through the whole thing.

The tech took pictures of his spine.... All while Henry was so relaxed he tooted quite a few times.... Some comic relief for this nervous mama.

After the ultrasound they took us to X-ray to take a look at the vertebrae... They do both procedures to accurately count how many vertebrae follow from where the spine stops.
Henry was not too happy during the X-ray. They held his little legs down and I had to hold his arms above his head....such a Strong little guy.... And he wailed, but it was short lived.... I swooped him up and comforted As quick as I could.

They told me I would get called by he best day with results....
By Friday at 4 I still had not heard anything so instead of having a terrible worry filled weekend I called the pediatrician and checked if they had results yet. They didn't but said they would start doing some calling for me. They called me back within 5 minutes to let me know that all was normal! Sigh of relief!!!!
I pretty much knew it would be, but you just never know.

Although it was a medical outing, Henry and I got some good one on one time. And it resulted with positive news.
We continue to be grateful for their health!

2 months old!

Time for another monthly update

How old? 2 months

Our weights: H: 9.13 N: 8.9 G: 8.1
They have all stayed consistent with Henry being the heaviest and Graham being the smallest, and Nolan staying in the middle. Graham is the only one left in newborn clothes but we are close to retiring that collection soon.

Our sleeping patterns? About 3-4 hours before we need to eat again. Nolan is starting to sleep longer stretches at night, but he is going through a growth spurt so he doesn't want to miss a meal. Henry usually wakes first to eat, but lately they are all taking turns of who wakes first.

Our eating schedule? Every 3-4 hours we get fussy and want to eat... But with growth spurts happening it can be every 2.5 hours sometimes. With just me it takes about an hour 15 to feed all three, but with 2-3 people, about 30 minutes. Nolan is our strong eater, Henry can be a bit pokey, and graham will be a good eater when he wants to be.

Our favorite foods? Neo sure 22 calorie formula.

Our likes? Being held, swing and mamaroo, looking out the window, riding in the car, our pacifiers.

Our dislikes? Gassy bellies, shots, being changed every now and again.

Our favorite games/toys? Swings and bouncers. We like movement and being upright.

Our milestones? We are beginning to track with our eyes hold our heads up longer, smiling at people.

Things we do to make Mom and Dad smile? The cute faces we make, noises, cute outfits, and letting us get some sleep :)

2 month appointment- shots and all.

What have we been up to lately

We have been up to lots lately so I thought since I have been pretty good at taking pictures I would share our fun adventures this past week.

One of the first times we dressed the boys in their matching Jammie's..... Pretty cute if you ask me!

On July 21st, Graham and I went to see off the Zion youth as they headed to South Dakota for their mission trip. I was 4:45am but we were up anyway for early breakfast! ;-)

Dave and I, with our friends, the Kerns, went on our first walk! It was quite the site, 5 kids, 2 dogs, 4 adults! Does that constitute it as a parade?

Graham and I headed to the doctor for A weight check. I was getting nervous because Graham was spacing out his feedings more sleeping lots, and not finishing bottles. Of course the day of his appointment he started to take bottles like a champ.... He weighed 7.5 lbs and doing fine. Oh first time mom moments...

Dave's birthday was July 25th, we took that as a perfect opportunity for a first date night out! We headed to Texas Roadhouse for amazing steak while the babies were well taken care of by Katie and her parents.

We had a great time knowing the babies were in good hands!

On Friday July 26th, an expecting triplet mom Michelle and her husband Matt came over. They brought us dinner and wanted to see what their future soon will look like. They are having three girls so there will be some differences, but three babies none the less. They were naturals.... They changed diapers, dressed them in Jammie's, fed them.... I am so excited to meet our boy's future wives.

Cute picture of our boys in their outfits with cute pants....
Dave and I had another date on Saturday the 27th... We got to go to baconfest. The Lowry and the other blue plate restaurants had booths featuring bacon dishes. We got to sample them and vote for our favorite! Dave loved the jalapeƱo wiener pop wrapped in bacon. I loved the pork belly tater tot with baconaise sauce. We had a great time despite the rain!

We are grateful we have been able to get out as much as we have... Being parents of triplets. We Couldn't do it without supportive and trusting family and friends who love our boys so much!

Babies galore

So I have been meaning to post about this for sometime now but of course life with triplets just passes so quickly! Since they are all quietly sleeping I will get a quick post in.

A week ago I hosted a gathering with two of the moms I met when The boys were in the special care nursery. Jen was there with her twin boys, Landon, and Grady, and Katie was there with her little girl Maddie.
Days can get pretty long when you are in the routine of feeding, changing, and sleeping babies. Although the nurses are great to converse with, it was great to have other moms who were on the same page as you.

Jen, Katie and I would sometimes grab lunch down in the cafeteria to take a baby break. It was fun to hear their birth stories and similar challenges with all our preemies.

We have remained in touch, and I had them over for a late morning gathering.... If you have been doing the math in your head, that is 6 babies... I have 3, Jen with 2, and Katie with 1. It was quite the site.
Some of our neighbors even commented later that they saw ladies coming over with babies... And they couldn't believe the site since they knew this house was so full of them all ready! Lol

We shared stories of discharging our babies, and first time mom concerns.... When a baby cried, no matter whose it was, one of us who had a free hand would pick them up to console or feed.
It is so reassuring to have other moms of preemies going through some of the same things.... We can bounce ideas off each other and feel a sense of relief.

We plan to do another 'play date' sometime this next week.

We got a group shot of the babies... And then one including the moms.

Can your pick out the triplets?

So thankful for these mamas!

Due date

Today marks my due date.... So the boys are technically "full term" today.... But instead of still being pregnant and being miserable and overdue, waiting to go into labor or a date to be induced..... I am enjoying the day with my 7 week old baby boys.
It is crazy to think of our life before them. Even from the days we were in the hospital with them to now, they have changed so much... Looks, weight, and development.
Yes their weights are around what full term babies would be, but we are right on track... They are eating very well and gaining weights light champs.
Henry- 7 lbs 8oz

Nolan- 6lbs 9oz

Graham- 6lbs 4oz

They are eating every three hours during the day and them about every 4-4.5 hours at night, which mom and dad appreciate...hopefully it stays that way!
We have fun seeing people as they come to visit... A few times we have ventured out...

My dad's cousin Sue came to help feed!

A couple of the staff members from church love when I bring a baby in to visit.

Mary, Ann, and Anne, all triplet moms came to meet the boys, bring me dinner, and help with a feeding!

Grandma Vicki reading books to Henry.

Grandma Lynda came to snuggle and feed.

I love making these collages of the boys....

Snuggle time... Two at a time. Henry and Nolan.
They will have their 2 month check up in a couple weeks so I will have more details on each baby then.... But just know we are doing very well and falling into a pretty good routine... Never taking advantage of the help being offered! We are grateful!
