Triplet mom dinner

I had an incredible experience I wanted to make sure I blogged about. I had the chance to sit down to dinner with 9 other triplet moms last Thursday evening.

One of my youth at church heard I was having triplets. Her aunt,Anne, is a mom of 21 month old triplets. Once Anne heard of my news she was eager to get in touch with me. We did some texting last Thursday morning and she informed me of a triplet mom dinner that happens about once a month. They are all moms that live in the north metro. Some have 13 year old triplets, some have 15 month old triplets, some have 3 year old triplets. I was available... I had a list of questions running around in my head ever since we found out we were having three... so, who better to ask then moms who have experienced it!

We met at Olive Garden, which was so convenient since it was so close to me! :)  All the moms were so welcoming and affirming. I was the only one that was pregnant at the time. They each had such different experiences with their pregnancies... some went on bed rest really early... some never went on bed rest!
Some delivered in the 24-29 week range... A few others delivered at the 31-35 week range.

They kept on making sure all this information was not scaring me. I assured them it was not. It was so wonderful to hear that every pregnancy is SO different. I wish I brought a pen and paper to this dinner. I got to ask my questions and got very enlightening answers.

I couldn't say enough positive things about this dinner. They are all members of MOMS of Multiples group... which I will start attending. They meet the first Thursday of every month. But these triplet moms meet on top of that just for fun, fellowship time, and information swapping!

The dinner lasted about 4 hours!!! Once I got home, I was just bursting with information to share with Dave... I think  I overwhelmed him a bit.

I felt so much better after that dinner, and I am grateful for Anne who reached out to get me involved in their network.
I am now friends with all of them on Facebook, and they all made sure to tell me they were available if I ever had any questions.

I am definitely looking forward to our next monthly meeting!!

Movement?  Nothing yet!

Size of the Babies?  Three little lemons this week!

What Dave is saying.... "I'm so glad you are no longer nauseous."

There is no place like home

Well finally after a week and 1 day of no furnace, we got that magic call from the service guy, Jim, that he would be by at 9am Thursday morning to install our furnace! We were so excited!!
I got to the house just in time as they pulled up. My plan was to just cozy up in our bed while they did there work but they had to shut the power off in most of the house.... Including our bedroom.... So no such luck!

I ended up leaving their check on the table and heading back over to our friends since I was already planning on watching their little boy Micah that afternoon. I got the call at 12:30 that they were all finished and the thermostat was set to 68!

By 4pm we were packing up all our stuff we had accumulated over the week and headed for home....after thanking Keith and Kristin over and over for their generous hospitality!
We came home to a warm house. I couldn't unpack fast enough! It seems our dog Bosley was happy to be home. He climbed right into our bed and camped out there for the night! (I think he was so tired form all the play time he got with the dog we lived with for the week!)

It's amazing how much you can take advantage of the little day to day things once they have been taken away from you.... Your own bed, heat, choice of clothes, you get the idea.

We have a new perspective on our home... Which now we have to start preparing for our newest members....

falling behind...

Man, this blogging concept is so new to me... I need to make it a new years resolution to post more!
In my defense we have had a lot going on in the past few weeks!

I will give you a recap:

1.The holidays... of course busy, but fun to celebrate with families and share our news as it was slowly seeping out into the world. Always fun to hear people's reactions. Never gets old. I wish I had a video camera for each one!

2. Went to the doctor last week to check on a headache I had for 6 days straight. I know headaches are a part of typical pregnancy symptoms, but I was miserable.. and wanted to rule out anything I should be worried about. Some say it could be due to high blood pressure. Everything turned out fine, and I got a prescription that has helped a lot... for that I am grateful. Since I was at my 12 week mark (where has the time gone!?!?!) they said we could check heartbeats.... like I was going to turn THAT down.  It is the most reassuring, wonderful sound in the world.

Based on where they heard the heartbeats:

Baby C- is at the top of my uterus
Baby B is on my right side
Baby A is sitting real low on my left side. ( it was hard to keep a constant heartbeat because baby A was all over the place) The Doctor told me "Good luck with baby A, it is a mover and a shaker!"   Oh man....

3. Our furnace went out last Wednesday. We woke up to a 55 degree house! BRRRRR! After the service guy fiddled with it, he discovered too many of the parts were not functioning correctly.
Thank goodness for the warranty that came with the house... they said we would just get a new furnace, for a small fee of course. Good news right?! Well yes, but warranty places take their sweet time in getting said new furnace to us.
We are now 1 day shy of a week with no furnace!!! At least this is happening before the babies are here right!?

We are  SO grateful for our friends Kristin and Keith who opened their house up to me, Dave, and Bosley for the week.
We are hoping we will have a new furnace installed before the end of the week! It's amazing how much you miss the comfort of your own home.

We are adjusting and counting our blessings... trying to remain positive!

As far as the babies are concerned, I am hoping for another check up real soon!! Stay tuned!
